Severn Trent’s Engineers didn’t expect this!

Cleaning pumping stations and sewers can often bring up little suprises but none quite like this one for Severn Trent’s engineers!

Engineers were called to a blocked sewer in Melton Mowbray to find that someone had flushed hundreds of tennis balls down the drain which has resulted in a serious blockage.  Whilst the finding may seem somewhat comical, sewer misuse is an ever growing issue for all water authorities and it costs Severn Trent alone £10 million per annum.

To get a better understanding of what you should and should not flush down the toilet, check out United Utilities article on http://www.unitedutilities.com/know-what-to-flush.aspx
