The Waterfront Huddersfield project is a stunning student accommodation development situated next to the canal in the heart of Huddersfield. The project required a 24 hour emergency storage volume of 60,000 litres within a very small footprint between a building and a canal wall. As with most developments placed next to or near water courses, the ground water level was significantly high greatly reducing the excavation depth. The system was designed with 3 chambers to ensure minimal excavation depth was achieved. The system also required a 28l/sec flow rate over a 300m rising main. To ensure that pumps were selected with minimal power requirements and a high efficiency, we selected 7.5kW Grundfos pumps with a 100mm clear passage for minimal blockages in the future.
With communication between the client, consulting engineers, contractors and ourselves, we ensured that a sutiable design was achieved with installation practicality and life time operation in mind.
