University of Chichester – Temporary Pump Station

  • Client: Main Contractor
  • Number of Pumping Stations: 1
  • Project Location: Bognor Regis
  • System Type: Surface Water Pump Station

In February 2017, Paradigm completed a 120 l/sec temporary triple pumping station at the new University of Chichester Engineering and Technology Park.

The multimillion-pound development at the Bognor Regis Campus is being built to provide opportunities for thousands of young people and designed to produce the engineering and scientific skills that the UK economy needs.

Due to the complexity of the project, the main surface water sewer had to be temporarily diverted whilst one of the existing buildings was demolished.  Due to the incoming flow rate being so varied, the temporary pumping station was designed to be able to pump at two different flow rates, 10 l/sec and 120 l/sec.  Having such varied flow rates, the system was designed and build with three submersible guiderail mounted pumps and two different sized rising mains.

Paradigm’s remote monitoring system was also configured into the triple pump MCC so the pump running history could be monitored and also reset facility should a pump trip.
