Runway Extension and A45 Diversion, Birmingham

  • Client: Contractor
  • Number of Pumping Stations: 4
  • Project Location: Birmingham
  • System Type: Insitu Installations

When Birmingham Airport and Birmingham City Council undertook a £44m joint venture project to divert the A45 corridor in order to extend the airport runway by 405m, Paradigm Pumps was commissioned the task of installing pumps, controls, pipework and valves that would control the surface water run-off from the new section of runway as well as the new road diversion.

Paradigm installed guide-rail mounted pumping systems into 3 pre-cast concrete chambers complete with oil detection controls, sluice gates, air release valves and flow monitoring devices to reduce the potential threat of oil overflow into to a nearby watercourse.
